The size of the parts can also affect the price. Larger parts and components require larger, more expensive tooling, and more material to manufacture, which will lead to higher tooling costs. In addition, larger components will take a longer time to produce, which also increases the cost.
3. Tooling material
The choice of mold material will depend on the required production volume, cycle time(shots life), product surface finish, and the material used in the plastic injection molding process. For example, short-run die molds for small quantity needs are made from less expensive die steel material,like P20 etc. However, high volume production requires molds made from more durable and expensive materials that will retain their properties for many years,like S136H ,718H etc.

The number of cavities in a mold refers to how many products that the mold can produce at a time, one or more . Usually, multi-cavity molds are designed for smaller parts,but larger quantity requirements.
